After my daughter was born, as i recall, and you would do well to ask her before you take my word for it, my spouse only got up once when our newborn cried. When Skye called me, i was out of Our bed like a shot. 'What? I get to see my daughter again?' I couldn't get to her cribside fast enough. それがめろめろだよ。

interesting illustration of how imagination can invent reality...
if we have the determination (&$) to make it so

Later, when we had moved to TheEasternCapital, i was looking for work. One place i called was an international nursery school/daycare. The prices for students were double or triple what a typical Japanese daycare cost. The remuneration for teachers was considerably less than a typical certified Japanese daycare.

With the exception of some foreign teachers, and some very, very rudimentary language classes. We see no real difference between the foreign and the domestic.

Y would people pay so much more for nothing? Some reasons might be

1. 以心伝心 A few of the teachers, and a few of the students, often less than half, were foreigners. The Japanese parents felt their kids would learn English, foreign culture, and most importantly self-confidence by being with foreigners.

2. status
3. Japanese (astoundingly illogically) fetishise the English language, and are fanatically fashion conscious in their language learning habits (particularly illogical given Japanese already know about 1/3 of Chinese).
4. Fear. At a sub-conscious level, this American English fashion is caused by having 50,000 'guests'

in one's nation. 'Guests' who are the only folks in the world capable of committing crimes against humanity using nuclear weapons.
4. Lifestyle. People pay for services & products because they want to be with, or associated with, the people who use those services & products.

The problem with folks here is

dey ain't bin rayzed rite.

When one of my roommates was blaring noise from his idiotbox, i asked him if he had headphones. He replied they were broken. Why wasn't he concerned with being considerate? Because he was paying money in a place that was full of people who were not concerned with being considerate. His clique. His tribe.

Many folks staying just down the street

would be glad to pay the prices my Ohana friends were paying. Many Marriott guests wouldn't mind the lack of privacy and the lack of facilities at Our hostel. The Marriott guests are simply unwilling to pay the cultural price i was paying because i've fetishised understanding Our fellow man.
