car culture

welcome to foragers redux

i've long taken issue with American Car Culture. The issue, i am beginning to realise, is not Car Culture.

The issue is the lack of harmony with which the first century of Car Culture, fueled by the crude internal combustion engine, seems to profess the forager lifestyle while causing the cultural, social, societal destruction which Western European cultures, and oil, seem to epitomise.

I was recently treated to a lovely ride through the South Garden Route.

A delightful, tall Dane and I shared the van. We took a respite. The travel stop was as white as they get. Whiter. I couldn't help wonder how our Black driver felt.

I did like the square toilets.

i wonder if Mr. Nixon would have been elected
if he hadn't pimped out Ed Sullivan to pave the weigh.

The Lovely & i began talking enviromentalism, and agreed that we are far away from even beginning to be able to see a corner turn in the enviromental disaster awaiting our descendants. Moreover, tootling around with 3 (including the driver) in the van was hardly helping our environmental well-being.
